Farmland, timberland, and the road to net-zero

Much has been written lately about the growing investor appetite for the diversification and inflation-hedging benefits of natural assets such as farmland and timberland. But when allocating capital across asset classes, investors should consider carbon intensity (and other ESG metrics) beyond using the traditional risk-return equation.

Investors seeking to build a robust portfolio aligned with ambitious sustainability goals should thus consider adding well-managed exposure to prime farmland and timberland assets.
